Chardstock is a small village and civil parish in the East Devon district of Devon, England, sitting on the northern fringe of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the Somerset border and only a few miles from the town of Chard. Its elevated position gives views across rolling farmland, hedgerows and wooded valleys, and the landscape is popular with walkers who use the network of bridleways and footpaths that thread the hills.
Historically the settlement grew as an agricultural and small-scale wool-producing parish and retains a compact centre of stone cottages and a parish church dating back several centuries. Today the local economy remains rural - farming, equestrian enterprises and small businesses - while a strong village community maintains a village hall and seasonal events that keep social life active and attract visitors seeking countryside character and tranquillity.
