Crediton is a historic market town and civil parish in Mid Devon, Devon, England, set on the banks of the River Creedy. It grew as an ecclesiastical and wool-trading centre and is best known as the birthplace of the early medieval missionary St Boniface; the parish church dedicated to St Mary and St Boniface is a striking medieval building that anchors the town. Much of its character survives in narrow streets, independent shops and a regular farmers' market that underline its market-town roots.
Today the local economy mixes agriculture, small-scale engineering and service businesses, with many people commuting to nearby Exeter. The town is well placed for country pursuits, with easy access to Dartmoor and the North Devon coast, and is served by a railway linking to Exeter and Barnstaple, keeping a blend of rural calm and good regional connections.
