New Holland is a small riverside village in North Lincolnshire on the south bank of the Humber estuary, a short drive from larger industrial ports such as Immingham and within easy reach of Barton-upon-Humber and Grimsby. Sitting beside wide salt marshes and mudflats, it has the open, maritime feel of a place shaped by tidal landscapes and shipping rather than dense urban growth.
The village grew in the 19th century as a railway and ferry terminus with a pier that linked across to Hull until the opening of the Humber Bridge in 1981; traces of that ferry heritage remain a local talking point. Today New Holland combines a quiet residential community with a maritime and industrial hinterland - many people work locally in port‑related jobs or commute to nearby towns - and its pier, shoreline and railway history are the chief points of interest for visitors and residents alike.
