Barton is a compact civil parish and market town in North Lincolnshire, sitting on the south bank of the Humber Estuary close to the northern end of the Humber Bridge. Its waterside character and compact centre reflect a long riverside history, and Barton-on-Humber railway station gives local rail links toward Hull and Cleethorpes.
Historically a small river port and market town, Barton retains notable heritage such as the Anglo‑Saxon tower of St Peter's Church and the local Baysgarth House Museum set in Baysgarth Park. The parish grew around river trade, brick and light industry and today combines local services, light manufacturing and commuting, with active heritage groups, riverside walks and occasional community events that celebrate its Humber connection.
