Gretton is a small village and civil parish in North Northamptonshire, set in rolling countryside on the edge of the ancient hunting grounds of Rockingham Forest. It lies within easy reach of market towns such as Kettering and Corby, and has the compact feel of a traditional Northamptonshire village with stone and brick cottages clustered around a parish church and green.
Historically agricultural, the surrounding landscape also saw industrial activity in the 19th and 20th centuries as ironstone and other local resources were worked, but today Gretton combines rural life with a commuter population and a modest local community - village hall activities, a pub and occasional seasonal events keep a strong local identity. The village’s quiet lanes and proximity to forested rides make it appealing for walkers and those seeking a country base not far from larger towns.
