Ingleton sits on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales in North Yorkshire, set within dramatic limestone scenery. The parish is famed for its cave systems and waterfalls, notably White Scar Cave and the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, and the skyline is dominated by the distinctive fell Ingleborough; the River Doe and River Twiss cut steep gorges through the surrounding landscape.
Locally the economy mixes traditional hill farming with tourism - walkers, cavers and cyclists are common - and a compact village centre of pubs, shops and community facilities gives the place a lively local feel. You can still see Victorian-era influences from when the area became a visitor destination, and remnants of past quarrying and mining add historical interest to the countryside.
