Manton is a small, rural village and civil parish in the county of Rutland, in the East Midlands. Set amid rolling farmland and lanes, it retains a traditional feel with stone cottages, a historic parish church and several listed buildings, and sits within easy reach of the county town of Oakham and the recreational areas around Rutland Water.
Historically agricultural, the local economy still has farming at its heart but now includes commuters and retirees drawn by the tranquillity; the community is modest but active with a village hall and occasional events. The surrounding countryside makes it popular with walkers and birdwatchers, and its small scale and heritage give it a quietly attractive village character.
