Croscombe is a stone-built village on the western edge of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, England, sitting conveniently between Wells and Shepton Mallet. The compact settlement is notable for its traditional 17th–18th century cottages and a medieval church with the kind of Somerset tower that marks the local skyline, and it commands pleasant views across the surrounding countryside towards the Somerset Levels.
Historically the community grew around agriculture, wool and Mendip stone quarrying, and today a mix of farming, small local businesses and tourism keeps village life active; walkers and cyclists often use it as a base for exploring the hills. There’s a strong community feel with a village hall, local events and pubs and a steady interest in conserving the historic fabric while accommodating commuters and new residents.
