High Ham is a small rural parish in Somerset, set on the edge of the Somerset Levels in south‑west England. The landscape is a mix of low-lying, drained pastures and slightly higher clay ridges, giving the area a quiet, agricultural character with narrow lanes and stone cottages rather than urban development.
Historically the parish has medieval roots and a traditional parish church and a handful of listed manor houses and farm buildings survive, with archaeological evidence pointing to earlier Roman and medieval activity in the vicinity - including the neighbouring hamlet of Low Ham. Today the local economy remains largely agricultural, complemented by residents who commute to nearby market towns; community life centres on village amenities and occasional local events that reflect the parish’s long rural history.
