Monkton and North Curry sits on the southern edge of the Somerset Levels in Somerset, a few miles east of Taunton. The area brings together the small hamlet of Monkton with the larger, historic village of North Curry, which perches on a low ridge above the Levels and the River Tone, giving it a mix of wetland views and higher, well-drained ground with characterful thatched cottages and a medieval church of St Peter and St Paul.
Predominantly rural and agricultural, the ward also has a strong local community life with village halls, pubs and regular events that attract both residents and visitors; many people commute into nearby towns for work while conservation groups and birdwatchers value the surrounding moors and drainage ditches for their wildlife. Historic buildings and a lively parish scene make it a quiet but culturally engaged corner of Somerset.
