West Monkton is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated a few miles south of Taunton and close to the M5. The settlement sits beside the River Tone and has a largely rural feel despite being near commuter routes; the more recent expansion at Monkton Heathfield has brought new housing and services to the area.
The parish is perhaps best known for the nearby Hestercombe estate with its celebrated gardens and historical landscape, which draws visitors and hosts events. Locally there is a mix of agriculture and commuter living, a medieval church and active village community groups centred on the village hall and pub, giving the place a quiet but engaged social life.
