Burntwood is a civil parish and town in the district of Lichfield, Staffordshire, England, set amid pockets of heathland and mixed woodland to the north of the West Midlands conurbation. The area benefits from easy access to green attractions such as Chasewater Country Park and the hills of Cannock Chase, giving it a surprisingly rural feel despite being within commuting distance of Birmingham and Walsall.
Historically it expanded in the 19th and early 20th centuries around coal mining and related industries, and traces of that industrial past remain important to local identity even as the economy has become largely residential and service-oriented. The town has a mix of community groups, parks and local shops, together with heritage attractions around the reservoir and the preserved railway at Chasewater, which attract visitors from the wider region.
