Arborfield and Newland sits in the borough of Wokingham in Berkshire, east of Reading and within commuting range of London. The area combines small settlements such as Arborfield, Arborfield Cross and Newland with surrounding farmland, pockets of woodland and winding lanes; you’ll also find the site of the former Arborfield Garrison, now partly redeveloped into housing known as Arborfield Green.
It’s a largely rural, close‑knit community where agriculture and small local businesses sit alongside many commuters to nearby towns. Village life centres on the church, village halls, primary school and pubs, and there are plenty of footpaths and bridleways for country walks; the blend of historic buildings and recent development gives a tangible sense of continuity and change.
