Arborfield Garrison sits on the edge of Arborfield in the Borough of Wokingham, Berkshire, a few miles south‑east of Reading and within commuting distance of London. The site occupies a patchwork of woodland and former farmland near the River Loddon, and for much of the 20th century was recognisable by its parade grounds, brick barracks and long military presence.
Historically a training and support hub for the British Army, much of the garrison has been decommissioned in the 21st century and is being redeveloped as the mixed‑use Arborfield Green scheme. That transition has shifted the local economy and social make‑up, blending the area’s military heritage with new housing, schools and community facilities as part of the wider Thames Valley economic region.
