Arborfield Cross is a small village in the borough of Wokingham, in the county of Berkshire, lying to the east of Wokingham town and not far from Reading. The settlement grew up around a crossroads and retains a village feel, with local shops, a pub and surrounding agricultural and parkland that reflect its semi-rural setting whilst being within easy reach of larger towns and transport links to London.
Historically the area has been shaped by the nearby Arborfield Garrison, once an important military site that has been the focus of recent redevelopment into residential neighbourhoods, changing the local economy and demographics. Today Arborfield Cross is often regarded as a commuter-friendly community with an active local social life and a mix of older village features and newer housing reflecting its evolving role on the edge of the Thames Valley urban area.
