Finchampstead is a large, semi-rural parish in the borough of Wokingham in Berkshire, sitting to the south of Wokingham town and within easy reach of Bracknell, Reading and Sandhurst. The area is notable for its expanses of heathland and mixed woodland – including the popular California Country Park and the Finchampstead Ridges – which attract walkers, riders and mountain bikers and give a strong sense of countryside close to large employment centres.
Finchampstead also has a clearly defined village heart with a medieval parish church, St James' Church, local pubs, clubs and active community groups; traces of ancient earthworks on the ridges reflect its long history. Economically it leans towards being a commuter and family‑oriented area, with a mix of cottages, modern housing and small businesses, while village events and clubs keep a strong social fabric.
