Banknock is a small village in the council area of Falkirk in the Central Belt of Scotland, historically part of Stirlingshire. It sits between the larger villages of Bonnybridge and Kilsyth and developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries around coal mining, quarrying and local brickworks, with traces of old railway lines and industrial infrastructure still visible in the landscape.
Today Banknock is largely a residential, commuter community with local shops, a village hall and active community groups, while enjoying countryside walks and green corridors that follow the old transport routes. Its setting close to the line of the Forth and Clyde Canal and the Roman frontier of the Antonine Wall gives the village added interest for walkers and history enthusiasts, and it remains within easy reach of Glasgow and Stirling for work and services.
