Denny is a small town in the council area of Falkirk in central Scotland, sitting beside the River Carron and clustered with neighbouring communities such as Dunipace and Dennyloanhead. Its location in the Central Belt gives it good road links and makes it a convenient base for people commuting to nearby centres like Stirling or Falkirk.
Historically Denny grew in the 19th century as an industrial town with paper mills, ironworks and related industries harnessing the river; much of that heavy industry has gone, leaving a largely residential town with pockets of local commerce, community groups and efforts at regeneration. The town retains a strong local identity and a mix of Victorian and more modern housing, reflecting its shift from manufacturing to a commuter and service-orientated economy.
