Morningside is a small village in North Lanarkshire, in central Scotland, sitting on the fringe between the industrial Central Belt and surrounding farmland. It has the feel of a commuter settlement - close to larger towns such as Wishaw and Motherwell and within easy reach of Glasgow - with winding lanes, pockets of older stone housing and stretches of open countryside nearby.
Historically the village shares the wider area’s mining and railway heritage, and remnants of that industrial past can still be seen in local architecture and land use. Today Morningside is largely residential with small shops, community groups and a strong local identity; many residents work in neighbouring towns while enjoying quieter, semi-rural living and local walking routes that reflect both agricultural and industrial changes to the landscape.
