Allanton is a small village in North Lanarkshire in the central belt of Scotland, lying close to the larger town of Shotts. It occupies a semi‑rural setting of farmland and former industrial landscape, so residents enjoy a quieter village feel while still being within commuting distance of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Historically the area shares the industrial and coal‑mining heritage common to much of North Lanarkshire, and many buildings and community ties reflect that past. Today Allanton is largely residential with local amenities and a close‑knit community, and its location offers easy access to outdoor walks and the surrounding countryside as well as to nearby towns for shops and services.
