Winchburgh is a village in West Lothian, Scotland, situated on the central belt between Edinburgh and Falkirk and close to Linlithgow. Historically it grew around 19th‑century shale‑oil and mining activity, and remnants of that industrial past sit alongside older village buildings and memorials.
Today Winchburgh is largely a commuter settlement with local shops, schools and active community groups, and it has seen substantial new housing development and infrastructure investment in recent years. Plans for improved rail and road links to Edinburgh and Glasgow reflect its role on the busy M8 corridor, while the village still retains a sense of local history amid ongoing change.
