Cefn Cribwr is a small village in the county borough of Bridgend in south Wales, set on a low ridge that gives the settlement its name - "cefn" meaning ridge in Welsh. It lies close enough to larger towns for commuting but retains a semi-rural feel, with local footpaths and green spaces giving easy access to the surrounding countryside.
Historically the village grew up around late 18th- and 19th-century ironworks and coal mining, and there are still visible traces of that industrial past alongside community-led heritage projects. Today Cefn Cribwr is largely residential with active local groups and regeneration initiatives that balance its historic identity with modern village life.
