Llangynwyd Lower is a semi-rural community in Bridgend County Borough in south Wales, lying on the slopes above the Llynfi Valley close to Maesteg. The area combines rolling farmland and wooded valley sides with clusters of housing that reflect its mix of village life and former industrial settlement.
Historically part of the medieval parish of Llangynwyd and shaped by the coal era, the community still centres on its historic church and local halls – the parish church is dedicated to St Cynwyd's Church – and retains a strong chapel and choral tradition. Economically it has shifted from mining to a more residential, commuter character with local agriculture and small enterprises sustaining village life and community events.
