Nant-y-moel is a small former coal‑mining village in the county borough of Bridgend, set among the upland valleys of South Wales. It grew up around the 19th- and 20th-century mining industry, and you can still see terraces and other reminders of that industrial past alongside memorials and community stories that mark the valley’s heritage.
Today Nant-y-moel is largely residential, with many people commuting to nearby towns and cities while enjoying ready access to hill walks and valley views; the Glamorgan coast and the M4 corridor are also within easy reach. Local life centres on a village hall, pubs and sports clubs, and community events that reflect both Welsh cultural traditions and the close-knit social fabric of the South Wales valleys.
