New Tredegar is a small former mining town in Caerphilly county borough, tucked into the slopes of the Rhymney Valley in South Wales. Its elevated position gives views over the valley and towards the Brecon Beacons, and it is within commuting distance of larger centres such as Cardiff.
Built up in the 19th century as part of the South Wales Coalfield, the town experienced decline after the pit closures but retains a strong community identity, visible in local sports clubs, chapels and community regeneration projects that celebrate its mining heritage while supporting small businesses and social life.
