Myddfai is a small village and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, set in the upper valley of the River Towy a few miles south of Llandovery. It sits amid rolling uplands beneath the Black Mountain and is within reach of Llyn y Fan Fach, giving the area dramatic scenery and good walking country.
The village is best known for the legendary Physicians of Myddfai and the Lady of the Lake story connected with Llyn y Fan Fach; medieval herbal remedies tied to that tradition survive in manuscript and helped make the name famous. Today the local economy is largely agricultural, centred on hill and sheep farming with modest tourism from walkers and heritage visitors, while community life retains a strong Welsh cultural presence.
