Conwy sits on the north coast of Wales at the mouth of the River Conwy, and the ward covers much of the medieval walled town centred on Conwy Castle, which forms part of a World Heritage Site. The tidal estuary, compact quay and Victorian engineering landmarks such as the Conwy Suspension Bridge and the Conwy Railway Bridge give the area a striking, historic riverscape.
Tourism and heritage conservation are major parts of the local economy, supported by independent shops, cafés, holiday accommodation and a modest fishing and marina presence, while residents range from long‑standing families to commuters and retirees; community groups are active in balancing everyday needs with preservation. As an electoral ward it elects councillors to Conwy County Borough and plays a central role in local services and civic life for the town.
