Ysbyty Ifan is a tiny, remote upland community in Conwy, north Wales, tucked into moorland and the headwaters of the River Conwy. The hamlet feels distinctly rural and historic, with stone cottages, lanes and access to wild walking country on the edge of Snowdonia, making it popular with hillwalkers and those after quiet countryside stays.
Its name recalls a medieval hospital of the Knights Hospitaller and there are still visible traces of that historic past around the parish church; today the local economy is centred on hill farming, small-scale tourism and conservation. Ysbyty Ifan remains a largely Welsh-speaking, close-knit community where traditional rural life and heritage are still very evident.
