Uwch Aled is a predominantly rural ward in Conwy, Wales, sitting on the upper reaches of the River Aled and close to the small upland reservoir Llyn Aled. The landscape is a mix of rolling pasture, conifer plantations and stone farmsteads, making it popular for walking, fishing and quiet countryside pursuits rather than mass tourism.
Locally the area retains a strong Welsh-speaking identity and traditional rural economy - sheep and cattle farming, some forestry and small-scale tourism support local livelihoods. Historic chapels, old drovers’ lanes and community halls remain focal points for social life, giving the ward a close-knit, village-centred character.
