Bedlinog is a small village and community on the southern edge of the Merthyr Tydfil county borough in South Wales, tucked into the rolling hills above the Taff Bargoed area. It grew up in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries around coal mining, and remnants of that industrial past remain visible in the layout and older buildings.
Today Bedlinog is noted for a strong local community spirit, with a village hall, sports clubs and cultural traditions such as choirs and local gatherings. The local economy has shifted from heavy industry to a mix of small businesses and commuting to nearby centres, while its elevated setting gives pleasant views and easy access to countryside walking for residents who favour village life close to larger towns.
