Coedpoeth is a compact village and community set on high ground a few miles west of Wrexham in north‑east Wales. The Welsh name literally means "burnt wood" (coed = wood, poeth = burnt/warm), a hint at historic clearance and early charcoal or coppicing activity; its elevated location gives pleasant views across the surrounding countryside towards the River Dee valley.
During the 19th century Coedpoeth expanded with coal mining and sandstone quarrying, and traces of that industrial past still shape lanes and old workings. Today it functions largely as a residential and commuter community with local shops, pubs and active community groups, valued for its combination of village amenities and easy access to the wider Wrexham area and nearby walking country.
