Coedpoeth is a village ward on the western edge of Wrexham in north‑east Wales, sitting on gentle upland slopes with pleasant views towards the Clwydian Range. It feels semi‑rural despite being close to the county town, with a mix of Victorian terraces, post‑war housing and pockets of countryside that give the area a village atmosphere while keeping good road links into town.
Historically it grew around 19th‑century coal and quarrying industries, and remnants of that industrial past remain in the built environment and local memory. Today the ward is largely residential and commuter‑oriented but retains a strong community spirit: a small high street, local pubs and halls, active sports clubs and regular village events, alongside efforts to protect green spaces and repurpose former industrial sites. Many residents travel to Wrexham or Chester for work while still valuing the local social networks.
