Colyton is a small historic market town and civil parish in East Devon, Devon, England, tucked into a steep, wooded valley on the River Coly a few miles inland from the Jurassic Coast and the seaside town of Seaton. Its setting gives a mix of rolling agricultural countryside and easy access to coastal footpaths and nature reserves, making it popular with walkers and visitors as well as locals.
Historically a medieval market and wool-trading centre, Colyton still shows timber-framed and Georgian streets, a notable parish church and a grammar school with roots back to the 16th century; today the local economy blends farming, tourism, independent shops and pubs, and a commuter population, while a lively community calendar of fairs and local events keeps a strong village spirit.
