Axmouth is a small village and historic port at the mouth of the River Axe in East Devon, Devon, England. Set beside the estuary and close to the Jurassic Coast, it nestles beneath steep, wooded slopes and sits within a nationally valued coastal landscape; the nearby Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs is famous for dramatic landslips, rich wildlife and fossil-bearing cliffs.
Once an important medieval port, Axmouth lost commercial prominence as the estuary shifted, but reminders of its maritime past survive in old quays and cottages. Today it is a small, community-centred place where tourism, birdwatching, walking and local services sustain the economy, with the parish church and village pub still acting as social hubs.
