Melton is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, set close to the south bank of the Humber Estuary and within easy commuting distance of Kingston upon Hull. Its setting gives it a mix of low-lying estuarine landscape and pleasant rural lanes, with wide skies and good walking routes by the water that appeal to birdwatchers and people who enjoy coastal scenery.
Historically agricultural, Melton has become partly a dormitory community for Hull and the industrial and port complexes along the estuary, but it still retains village amenities and an active local life. The nearby Humber Bridge and estuary industries shape the local economy and identity, while community groups, a village pub and occasional events keep a distinctly village social feel.
