Swanland is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, lying roughly seven miles west of Kingston upon Hull. Perched on higher ground at the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, it enjoys undulating countryside and often-open views across the Humber estuary, which gives the village a distinctly leafy, semi-rural character despite its proximity to the city.
Historically agricultural, Swanland expanded in the 19th and 20th centuries and today combines Victorian and later housing with local shops, pubs, a primary school and several active community and sports groups. Its countryside access, conservation-minded residents and popularity with commuters have helped make it a sought-after, family-oriented village on the western fringe of Hull.
