South Hunsley is an electoral ward in the East Riding of Yorkshire, occupying semi-rural land to the west of Hull and close to the Humber estuary. It mixes small villages and commuter settlements with agricultural countryside, and benefits from good road and rail links into the Humber region which make it popular with people working in nearby towns and industries.
The ward sits near the village of Melton, home to the well-regarded South Hunsley School and Sixth Form, and is close to Brough, which provides local employment and rail connections. Locally there is a strong village feel, with pubs, clubs and country lanes, and a number of historic buildings and farmed landscapes that give the area a distinctly rural-suburban character.
