Lingdale is a small former ironstone‑mining village in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, within ceremonial North Yorkshire, England. It grew up in the late 19th century around the mines and rail links, and that industrial past still shapes the village in its rows of miners' cottages and local landmarks; geographically it sits on the fringe of the North York Moors and within easy reach of the North Sea coast.
Since the closure of the pits the local economy has shifted and many residents commute into Teesside or nearby towns, but Lingdale retains a strong community feel with village amenities and social clubs and is used as a base for walkers and those interested in industrial heritage and coastal and moorland scenery. The result is a quiet rural character with clear reminders of its mining past.
