Liverton Mines is a small former mining village in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland in North East England, tucked close to the heathered slopes of the North York Moors and the Cleveland Hills. It grew up in the 19th century around ironstone workings, and you can still see rows of traditional miners' cottages and traces of industrial archaeology that reflect that heritage.
Since the pits closed the village has become quieter and more residential, with many residents commuting to nearby towns on Teesside. Locally there’s a strong sense of community, outdoor life is prominent thanks to easy access to walking routes and moorland, and the mining past remains an important part of the area’s identity and local storytelling.
