Hatch Beauchamp is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, sitting on a limestone ridge with broad views over the Vale of Taunton. Its elevated position gives the village a distinctly rural character, with surrounding farmland and hedgerows and easy road links into the county town a few miles to the north.
The place has clear medieval roots - its name reflects the historic Beauchamp family - and there are visible earthworks from an old motte-and-bailey alongside a prominent parish church, St John’s, with a tall spire. A notable country house, Hatch Court, adds Georgian interest to the village. Today the local economy remains largely agricultural with some residents commuting to nearby towns, while a lively village community maintains social events and clubs typical of rural Somerset life.
