The area covers the villages of Normandy and Pirbright on the fringes of Guildford in Surrey, and is very much rural in character - open heathland, commons and woodland paths make it popular with walkers, riders and dog‑owners, while village greens, cottages and pockets of post‑war housing give a mixed streetscape.
Pirbright is notable for its military camp and the presence of the Pirbright Institute, a nationally important veterinary research centre, while Normandy retains an active community life with village halls, clubs and local events. Economically the area is largely residential with many people commuting to nearby towns or to London, so you get a blend of quiet, historic village feel and practical commuter links.
