Chilmark is a small village and civil parish in rural Wiltshire, England, sitting on the western edge of Salisbury Plain a few miles west of Salisbury. The local patch of chalk downland and clay gives rise to the famous Chilmark limestone quarried here for centuries; that stone was used in a number of local historic buildings, including parts of Salisbury Cathedral, and the old quarries remain a striking feature of the landscape.
Historically the area also hosted an MOD munitions depot and associated underground works, and since closure parts of the site and quarries have become important for wildlife, notably bat roosts, while the village itself remains a quiet agricultural community with traditional stone cottages, a historic parish church and easy access to walking on the downs and through patchwork farmland.
