Compton Chamberlayne is a small, quiet village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, sited on the southern edge of Salisbury Plain. The landscape is classic chalk downland with open fields, hedgerows and scattered stone cottages, and the parish is popular with walkers enjoying long views and public footpaths across the downs.
The village retains a historic feel, centred on its church and the remains of a country estate once linked to the Chamberlayne family, and its churchyard contains notable First World War American graves reflecting the military activity that once used the Plain. Today it is a largely agricultural and residential community prized for tranquillity, local neighbourliness and easy access to the wide, unspoilt countryside of the Plain.
