Barford St. Martin is a small, largely rural parish in south Wiltshire set on the banks of the River Nadder amid classic chalk downland of the Nadder valley. The village retains a strong sense of history - a medieval parish church with ancient fabric, clusters of thatched and stone cottages and a landscape shaped by farming and water meadows give it a distinctly traditional English village character.
Today the community mixes farming and small local businesses with a number of residents who commute into Salisbury and nearby Wilton, while walkers and nature‑lovers are drawn to the riverside and surrounding lanes. Social life is typical of a small parish, centred on the church, village hall and occasional local events that keep a close‑knit feel despite modern change.
