Glyncorrwg is a small former mining village tucked into the steep, wooded slopes of the Afan Valley in Neath Port Talbot, Wales, centred on the narrow valley of the River Corrwg. Its setting is striking: narrow lanes, waterfalls and reservoirs nestle among conifer plantations that climb the hillsides, giving the place a much greener, more rural feel than its industrial past might suggest.
Historically dominated by coal and related industries, the village experienced decline after pit closures in the 20th century, and today much of the local economy and identity is tied to outdoor recreation and regeneration. Afan Forest Park and nearby ponds and trails have made the area a destination for walkers, mountain bikers and nature lovers, while community projects and heritage reminders of the mining era keep a strong sense of local history and resilience.
