Clydach is a village and community on the eastern fringe of Swansea in south Wales, set in a steep-sided section of the Swansea Valley beside the River Clydach. The nearby Clydach Gorge and surrounding woodland offer popular walking routes and expose dramatic bits of limestone and the scars of past industry.
Historically the settlement grew up around 18th‑ and 19th‑century ironworks, lime kilns and later tinplate production, and remnants of that industrial archaeology still punctuate the landscape. Today Clydach is largely a commuter village with local shops, light industry and an active community life - rugby, community groups and occasional village events - blending its industrial heritage with modern suburban living.
