Pen-clawdd is a small village on the north‑eastern edge of the Gower Peninsula in the City and County of Swansea, sitting beside the Loughor estuary where the wide Burry Inlet gives expansive views across to Llanelli. The Welsh name literally means "head of the dyke", reflecting its location on reclaimed salt marsh and the neat rows of cottages that grew up with its maritime economy.

It is best known for a long‑running cockle and shellfish industry: family crews still harvest the mudflats and there are characteristic cockle huts and boats along the shore. The salt marshes are important for waders and wildfowl, and the village keeps a strong local identity with community clubs and traditions that celebrate its maritime and agricultural past even as many residents now commute to nearby towns.
