The community of Llanrhidian Higher sits on the northern edge of the Gower Peninsula in Swansea, overlooking the broad salt marshes of the Burry Inlet. Its landscape is a mix of low-lying grazing marsh, dunes and farmland and forms part of the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, popular with birdwatchers and walkers for its wader-rich estuary and open coastal views.
Historically agricultural, the area retains a small-village feel with a medieval parish church and scattered farms, while tourism and commuting into Swansea contribute to the local economy; there is a strong community spirit and active conservation efforts aimed at protecting the fragile coastal habitats that define the locality.
