Dyffryn Ceiriog is a largely rural ward in Wrexham, Wales, occupying much of the attractive Ceiriog Valley. The landscape is defined by the wooded, steep valley sides and the River Ceiriog threading through quiet lanes and scattered villages close to the England–Wales border, making it popular with walkers and anyone seeking a peaceful rural setting.
Local centres such as Glyn Ceiriog and Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog hint at a once more industrial past - slate working and the old Glyn Valley Tramway feature in local history - while the area retains strong cultural ties, famously associated with the poet John Ceiriog Hughes. Today the economy is dominated by agriculture, small-scale tourism and commuting, with a tight-knit community and a continuing presence of the Welsh language.
