Wellow is a small, largely rural parish in Bath and North East Somerset, a few miles south‑west of Bath. It sits amid rolling farmland, lanes and woodland and is popular with walkers and horse riders; the wider landscape looks towards the Mendip Hills and retains a quiet, village character despite its proximity to the city.
Historically the parish mixed farming with nineteenth‑century industry as part of the Somerset coalfield, and there are still traces of that industrial past alongside older houses and a compact village core. Today the economy is mainly residential and agricultural, with local services, community events and conservation of historic buildings helping to maintain a strong local identity while many people commute into Bath for work.
